Orbi RBR50v2 speed from satellites

Hello,

I am a mesh wifi novice, so please forgive me if I am failing to grasp any basics!

I have an Orbi RBR50v2 router with 2 satellites which has worked well for about a year.  I have today upgraded my internet to fibre, with speeds promised by my ISP of up to 300gb.  The new 'hub' is all installed and works fine with the Orbi connected to it to act as the router (and is all showing up as it should be on the Orbi app).  My issue is not that it is not working, just that when i use the wifi where a satellite is sending the signal to my phone or laptop, the speeds are significantly slower than they should be.  When i use wifi next the the router, the speeds are in the region off 220gb (i was always expecting the 300 promised to be a rarity!), whereas when I use it next to a satellite, it is more like 35/40gb...  Not much (if any) better than my old, pre fibre speeds in the same location...  My question is, is there some kind of setting on the satelleites which limits speeds that I should be turning off somehow?

It occured to me that it could be because the Orbi is somehow being 'overridden' by the 'hub' installed today by my ISP that teh Orbi is connected to.  But..  although the hub's wifi capability is still on, I have not put its wifi password into my phone or laptop and yet I still am connected to wifi.  So it can't be that and I must be connected via the orbi?!  The installer also assured me that the hub could not work for wifi without that password being inputted.

Additionally, the orbi app is showing me as connected and the 'network map' has green dots next to all the orbi devices as I would expect.  If anyone can suggest what I am doing wrong, I would be very grateful.  Thanks in advance.

Re: Orbi RBR50v2 speed from satellites

If your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
