Orbi RBR750: Cannot See SSID to Connect Laptop
Installed an Orbi RBR750 and changed the SSID/security key to an existing SSID/security key on the existing router AFTER shutting it down for home replacement. All devices picked up the new Orbi. Tried to connect a few days later with a work laptop by adding a new network in Wifi/Manage known networks. Filled out Network name, Security type WPA2-Personal AES, Security Key information, and connect automatically. Received reply " Couldn't add the new nework". Is this an issue with security settings on the PC not allowing access to add a new network or is there a conflict with reusing the same SSID/security key and this PC was.not available when this change occurred?
Thank you

You should be able to pick your WiFi network from the ones available then all you should have to do is enter you password for the network.

I agree with the other posters that (a) there is absolutely no conflict with reusing the same SSID/password. This is what I do every time I replace a WiFi router. (b) This PC not being present for the switch has no effect. and (c) There should have been no need to manually enter the SSID/password to connect. The laptop should have displayed the Orbi as one of the available WiFi networks. Did the Orbi WiFi not show up, or did you go straight to "Enter a new network.."
My guess is "couldn't add the new network" is most likely the password being entered incorrectly. (Caps Lock on, for example).

This may be a situation like what we've seen where some devices don't like mesh systems for they need to see the 2.4 ...?

Re: Orbi RBR750: Cannot See SSID to Connect Laptop
Be sure the wifi adapter drivers are updated on the laptop from the adpaters mfr support site.
I would remove any prior wifi profiles from the laptops networking, then try to sign on to the Orbi wifi network.
Please visit and post about this over in the Orbi AX forum:

Good Luck.

Any progress on this?

Re: Orbi RBR750: Cannot See SSID to Connect Laptop
Might be an Orbi AX compatibility issue with older wireless devices. Try going to orbilogin.com, Advanced tab, Advanced...Wireless Settings and change CTS/RTS Threshold to 2347 for both bands and see if it helps. You can also try disabling AX mode in Setup...Wireless Setup.
