Re: Orbi RBS 40v
The RBS40V has extender mode or orbi mode. Which one needs updating?
If you don't have a orbi router, I'd imaging you're using it in extender mode. you can log into it as the manual describes to update it.
And if its in orbi mode, I think their default ip address is 192.168.1.250 to access it (have to be connected to it).

Re: Orbi RBS 40v
Hello!
Thx for your reply. The rbs40v is a part of a rbk50v system. I have update the Rbk 50.
After updating , the RBS 40v was not found. I have no connection to that devise. In the orbilogin or orbiapp there is no Devise shown. Ethernet connection between Router and Satellit shows the same result. The rbs40v flashing only white, hours for hours. If i connect it seperatly with my pc with an Ethernet cable it was shown for a view seconds as unknown Network without adresses. I think the Firmware is coruppted. Is there a way to flash only the Satellit with new FW. I heard about FTP Client to do that at the Router.
Excuse by bad english.

Re: Orbi RBS 40v
Greetings from minnesota in the US!
Have you tried hardwiring the RBS40V into the rbr50 unit?
another thing to check is if the RBS40V is in extender mode and not orbi mode. Try changing modes. The quick start guide goes over it.

Re: Orbi RBS 40v
Hello again.
It looks like a complicated stuff for me. My problem is, that i can not get access to the satellit by orbi mode to update the device. I have switched into extender mode and updatet this mode by using 192.168.1.250. Your hints are very good.thx!
The rbk50v schould be worked only as an access point with the rbs40v. Is it nessesery to update the device in orbi mode. There is no connection possible between router and satellit and i can not get the firmware into it. The device pulsing white and the green light near the powerswitch flashes all 6 secondes once time by orbi mode. Nothing else will happen.
Something is wrong here in my system. I get stupid and i get sick.....to complicated for me!
Wish you a nice day and thx.

Re: Orbi RBS 40v
If you switch it to orbi mode and connect it via ethernet back to the main router it should simply use the wired backhaul.
Have you tried this?
then you can try updating through the orbi interface. Or even load the firmware manually

Re: Orbi RBS 40v
Do you mean the Provider Main Router who was connected with the rbk50?
I have connect the rbs40v with the rbk50 via ethernet cable. There was no satellit found neither by wifi nor by ethernet. I tryed to sync, i tryed to reset ....nothing happens at all.
I have no knowledge about Netgear. I only know avm produkts.

Re: Orbi RBS 40v
You can try flashing it with tftp when its in orbi mode.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp

and here's a video walk through.
