Hi
Looking at getting an orbi system but have seen with other manufacturer systems there is a big difference in functionality when using in AP mode vs. router mode.
What functionality gets lost when using an orbi in accesspoint mode over router mode?
Does guest network still work in AP mode?
Does Netgear Armor still function?
Do you have to use the app to manage the system? Is browser management available?
Do i ahve to have a netgear account to use orbi?
Thanks.

here's the list of disabled features.
https://kb.netgear.com/26765/Disabled-Features-on-the-Router-when-set-to-AP-Mode
The following router features are not available (grayed out) when the router is in AP mode:
- Guest Network
- QoS
- Setup Wizard
- Port Forwarding/Port Triggering
- Remote Management
- UPnP
- IPv6
- Traffic Meter
- Parental Controls
- Block Sites
- Block Services
- VPN service
- VLAN/IPTV setup
- Internet Setup
- WAN Setup
- LAN Setup
You can stll manage the orbi with the app or the browser when in AP mode.

Re: Orbi as an access point
Thanks for pointing me to that.
Ouch....thats quite a lot non-functional.
Some understandable as not relevant.
The killer for me is no guest network.

Indeed. The list of disabled features for Orbi is not the same as it is for routers.
See the "This article applies to:" list for that article.,

Ah! Good point.
Anyone aware of a similar list for Orbi?

Re: Orbi as an access point
I've looked multiple times for a list for Orbi and not found one. The router list is the closest I could get. Again, not going to be exact but its a good reference point.
