Orbi causing large amounts of lag for gaming
I recently bought the Orbi RBR50 and have connected it to my AT&T router/modem combo that we got with their Fiber internet. I have connected it to the right areas, placed the satellite in the room with my xbox, and got the internet up and running.
The thing is, on the Orbi app, it will go from "Internet: Online" to "Offline" over and over and the Router Orbi goes from a red circle to a green one repeatedly. Even though the internet apparently works, these are the messages I keep recieving.
When I get on Xbox Live to play an online game, I recive A LOT of lag and can't understand why. I have great download and upload speed and my Xbox tells me that the connection is excellent and has no problems.
I have tried even turning my router/modem combo into modem only and turning the wifi off in it and I still get lag/internet loss. Can anyone help me?

Re: Orbi causing large amounts of lag for gaming
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly. <This would be preferred...
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
What speeds UP and DOWN do you pay for from your ISP?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
How is the xbox connected? Wireless or wired? Wire is preferred and connected to the back of the RBR.
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

Re: Orbi causing large amounts of lag for gaming
I know our modem is an arris bgw210, if that is what you were wanting.
We have the 1000 MBPS fiber package.
Our home is about 1600 sqft and the distance between the Orbi router and satellite is about 30-35ft.
The xbox is connected wirelessly and the 2.4gh is on auto and 5is on 48.

Re: Orbi causing large amounts of lag for gaming
I would try connecting the xbox to the RBR via wired to see if the lag is still present.
How far away is the xbox from the RBR or RBS when wirelessly connected?

Re: Orbi causing large amounts of lag for gaming
About 30 - 35ft, same as the satellite because the xbox and Orbi satellite are beside each other in the same room.
