Orbi networking

We have a router installed to the front of our very old cottage. The Orbi and single satalite allows us to get a signal in the rest of the house. But I need to get wifi at the end of the garden (home office). Nothing seems to get out that far so I am thinking of running cat 6 cable from the home router to an RJ45 socket in the home office (125ft away) and then connect another orbi satalite via the socket (in the office) to offer a wifi and hardwired networking solution in that area.

Will this work?

Will I need a powered network switch or just an RJ45 socket?

Thank you

W

Re: Orbi networking

That will work, provided you use firmware (v2.1) that supports wired backhaul.

To save money, you could also just install an old (or new and cheap) router in the office and run it in Access Point mode. You could set the channels different from Orbi and the WiFi power to low to avoid overlap with the Orbi.
