Orbo update file faulty RBS40V-V2.3.0.10

I've downloaded the latest update this morning but after unzipping the file contained in the zip it is not the correct format, so the update will fail whichever method you choose auto or manual.

As this is a critical file I thought I would post so that Netgear can read and fix the file.

Try changing the name from *.chk to *.img.

Your attached picture shows what's in the zip archive; it does not
show that you've extracted the file(s) from the archive.  Which you'd
need to do before you could load the ".chk" file into the router.

Says who?  Some zip/unzip program or other?

Says who?  Did you try it?  How exactly?

That sounds to me like a seriously poor idea.  Have you ever actually
tried it?  On anything?

I suggest that because it works and is a well known move in the Orbi bit of this community.

Orbi - NETGEAR Communities

You might like to visit that zone, rather than trying to get help in the area for Netgear General WiFi Routers (Non-Nighthawk). There may not be that many experienced Orbi users here.

The "wrong name" issue has already appeared there.

Solved: Re: RBW30 - Firmware 2.3.0.4 - NETGEAR Communities

That one came from @FURRYe38 who has experience with Orbi and Netgear.

There is at least one satisfied customer.

I wonder if a moderator could move it to the correct community? I did use winwar to unzip the file to leave me with the update file.

Moderator notified.

If the discussion I linked to does not fix it, then you could just start a new conversation with details of what you have done and where it fails.

That is more likely to catch the idea of one of the Orbi moderators than something here or tacked on to the end of an ongoing discussion.

Is see that the on-line process does not show up RBS40V-V2.3.0.10. It tells me that V2.3.0.8 is the latest.

Not sure that I need improved voice recognition for Spanish and Japanese. And I haven't see "the issue where the music might stop unexpectedly".

Update to RBS40V-V2.3.0.10 worked fine here.

No need to mess around with the file at all.

It is, of course, a painfully slow process.

So that's a "no"?  "well known" and "correct" are spelled differently
for a reason.  But you, of course, are free to propagate any folklore
you wish.

What I see there is a bunch of people who are trying to "open"
(double-click on) a ".chk" or a ".img" file, which, as already
explained, is not the way this operation is done.  Changing the file
type (name extension), should, at best (by forcing the user to extract
the file from its zip archive), ensure that the actual firmware image
file gets used, instead of the original zip archive.

We are talking about Netgear here, so maky things are possible, but
I'd be a little amazed if they actually distributed fimware kits with
misnamed contents.  Bewildered users, on the other hand, are very
easy to find.

Done. Now you are in with the people who know their stuff when it comes to Orbi kit.

Here's another one:
