Do that and you may well break important functions on the Orbi, such as Parental Controls.
It is often better to put the modem/router into modem-only (bridged) mode (see above) and to let the Orbi do the clever stuff.
Without knowing the model of your modem/router we can only guess as to which is the better option.

If nothing else the N600 tag tells us that this is low-end device. N600 is an ageing and relatively slow wifi standard. I wonder what else on it is obsolete.

Well at least the WAN and LAN ports are Gb supporting and not 100Mb.
- Five (5) 10/100/1000 (1 WAN and 4 LAN) Gigabit Ethernet ports

So if they can bridge the modem, it should be ok for there needs.

Try to find a modem only unit with out a built in router. You don't need a built in router if your going to use a external router like the Orbi.
