R6700 with RBK22

I need to expand the wifi coverage in my home.  2400 sf, 2 story structure.  I want to be able to get wifi signal outside.

I currently have Verizon Fios with a Quantum Gateway router with wifi on located in the basement and a Nighthawk R6700 set up as a second wifi router on the first floor.  Both are set up with the same SSID.

I want to set up RBK 22 Orbi sytem for expanded mesh network coverage.  I would like to keep NH 6700 in the mix.  If so, how do I configure this?

Thanks

IF your ISP modem has a built in router already, This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

I would try option #2 with the RBK system and not use the R series router. The RBK system should be enough.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

You can use the R series router in AP mode behind the RBK system though it will need to have a separate SSID name and use different channels far apart from what the RBK uses.

Re: R6700 with RBK22

Thank you FURRYe38.  I will give these a try.  My home is 2400 SF.  30 ft between router and satellite should not be an issue.  Appreciate your help.
