RBK 23 creating unsafe wifi

Problem that when connected no sites work because it says it’s un safe and it cannot find ORBi on wifi network options.

Some more details would help.  You may be referring to using an up-to-date web browser to connect to the Orbi web interface: http://orbilogin.net.  Modern browsers have joined the era of "everything has to be encrypted" (https) and throw up a warning any time the user attempts to browse to a web site that is "http" (no 's').  These newer browsers even go so far as to assume that the user would rather use https, so they look for web sites using https instead of http.

For the past 20+ years, residential routers have used http for access to their web interface, perhaps assuming that anyone who was "inside" the LAN already had physical access to the router and could do anything they wanted.  If an (evil) person has already (a) joined the WiFi network by knowing the WiFi password, and (b) also knows the Orbi admin password, then they are smart enough to do whatever they want.

There is usually an option on the web screen (in very small type) that says something to the effect of, "yes, already. I know all about this.  just go to the damn web site and remember this in the future."

Be sure to read the user manual on how to setup the Orbi and the wifi and security.

Thank and I wondered about that.

When I set it up it seemed okay and then it was looking for the Orb wifi (on the app) and it didn't apprear.

It also would not allow me to access any Google site (on work computers) so wondered why that would happen.

Re: RBK 23 creating unsafe wifi

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? Built in router here by chance? If so, This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Use a wired PC and a web browser to connect to the RBR and configure the RBRs wifi SSID name and password and security settings there. Be sure to change the wifi SSID Name to something custom and something you recognize on your wifi devices.
