RBK23 connecting to NBN Arris not working

Hi

I am trying to connect a new Orbi Netgear router to the NBN arris box.

My service provider is internode and it looks like they only want to support a few router brands of their choice.

Is it possible to configure the Orbi to make it connect.

Re: RBK23 connecting to NBN Arris not working

Internode use VLAN tagging for their HFC NBN connections.

You need to enable that and set it to VLAN2 for it to work.

https://www.internode.on.net/support/guides/general_settings/

HFC/FTTC: Ethernet WAN (with 802.1q VLAN 2)

https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2758953
(shouldn't need to do the mac cloning though)

In the Orbi config -> Advanced Settings -> VLAN section and set the "Set VLAN by group" option for internet to VLAN ID 2.

*note - you may need to update your firmware first.

What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

Not a lot of help. CM probably means cable modem. But Google shows a whole raft of CM model numbers.

The full details could be important. Especially of your "CM" is also a router.

Re: RBK23 connecting to NBN Arris not working

CMs are only modems only. No built in router. C series modems are the modems with built in routers.

Thought it would be nice to know the CM#### model # here.

HE should be good a far as NAT and connection with the RBR and CM modem if there isn't anything else in between them.

That's Netgear. Google is less than clear on other brands.

Then there are variants with limited routering. Think DM200.

So I don't make assumptions.

Re: RBK23 connecting to NBN Arris not working

I always presume that NG information is most accurate.

DMs are always DSL Modems. Modems only. D series is modem/router units.

Re: RBK23 connecting to NBN Arris not working

I have no idea what point you are trying to make.

The DM200 is a DSL modem with built-in router features that you have to disable if you want to use it with a router. That has confused several users in the past.

Been there. Done that.

Why not just go off an harass some more Netgear people? I am sure they appreciate it.

Re: RBK23 connecting to NBN Arris not working

Good to hear. Thanks for letting us know.

I would make a back up configuration of the router to file for safe keeping.
