- I have a TPG HFC NBN connection in Sydney
- It is connected to an ARRIS DM8200 modem
- I am trying to connect the Netgear Orbi RBK50 router as I want its parental controls
- I have updated the firmware on the Orbi to what is current on 16/1/19
- I have turned off the modem for 1hr then restarted then connected to the Orbi
- I have mimicked the MAC address of the old router on the Orbi
- After all this, I still cannot get the router to connect to the internet
Can anyone please advise?

Thank you to Scorptec for providing this solution, which works.
Go to the Router menu:
1. Advanced
2. Advanced setup
3. VLAN
4. Enable VLAN
5. Tag group, set VLANID=2 and name=internet

Re: RBK50 connection to TPG HFC NBN
Can you confirm that the ISP modem is a DM8200 or a CM8200? I don't think there is a DM version.

Is there a reset button on the modem by chance?
After powering off the Orbi and Modem and turning back on the modem. Connection between the modem and Orbi on it's Yellow LAN port.
Swap LAN cables between the modem and Orbi.
Does connecting your wired PC directly to the modem get internet?
Factory reset the Orbi base router and log into orbilogin.com and walk thru the setup wizard. Does the wizard detect the internet connection with the modem here?
If not, can you test the router at a nighbor, friend or families place to see if the Orbi router works there.
If nothing gets the Router working, you may have a faulty unit. I would return it and get another one.
