RBK50 pulsing white with new IP address
So a few days ago ATT had a outage which completely messed up my orbi’s as usual. But this time I can’t connect at all. My RBK50 has just been pulsing white all day and night. Can’t get it to connect via app, can’t get it to factory reset, when I try to DL the firmware my Mac says disk image not recognized. But when I try and reboot the RBK sometimes it will connect via app and show my old connection name but than it says no internet connection. Usually I could just go in and change it via IP but I’ve never seen this IP address before(starts with 169.254) I am unable to connect or factory reset. I am assuming my orbi router is bricked from a firmware update but I can not connect via cable or through any ip address. Netgear wants to charge me 149.00 for a year of service when I probably just need a RMA but I am unwilling to pay due to the fact Ive got a RMA every year since purchasing.

Re: RBK50 pulsing white with new IP address
This is called an "Automatic IP address" which means that no network could be found. See this site under "Problem IP Addresses"
It may be time to connect directly to the AT&T box and verify that internet service is actually restored.

just in case:

unless it was acting up priot to the att&t outage I wouldn't be so fast to blame the firmware update

Re: RBK50 pulsing white with new IP address
Ive tried this already, The orbi doesnt factory reset in fact sometimes it pops up my old wiifi name but says no internet connection while the router pulses white and the satelite later goes to solid magenta. Than shortly after that the ssid will disappear.

do you know about this?

https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point
Ok Ive never seen that double nat link before, so before my system was setup with me leaving the 5ghz on from pace while turning off the 2ghz than I ran my orbi as a seperate wifi. But my orbi is popping up as a 169 ip adress which I know that wasnt the ip before. And the only way I am able to see it is when I view it from my iphone.
As for the access point unfortunately I cant login to the orbi through the orbilogin site or even with a cable attached to the router with a computer. For some reason the orbi wont establish a internt connection even attached through the modem.

Re: RBK50 pulsing white with new IP address
Ok. There are others in here they may be able to offer more help. What you have is a system with 2 routers.
if it were me I would get rid of that modem combo if you can and get a straight modem and run the Orbi with that
good luck

Re: RBK50 pulsing white with new IP address
This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Ok so this is making more sense. So ideally I would want the Ip address to be different (orbi and pace) and subnet mask the same (orbi and pace) ? I learned that I will have to keep them in the same .100 pool? I cant login to the orbi through orbilogin or through the automated ip, for some reason the orbi reads as no interent. Also I have this same problem when I cut off my interent from my pace (5ghz&2ghz), my orbi also reads no internet. The only way I can see my IP to my orbi is through a iphone and I can change it there manually but I dont think that registers as I cant login once I try to generate a ip there.

Re: RBK50 pulsing white with new IP address
The modem will need to be at one IP address pool, i.e. 192.168.(0).1 (0) can be any number accept for 1. You can change this on the modem. The RBR defaults to 192.168.(1).1. IF the modems IP address is the same IP address as the RBR, then change the RBRs IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1.
The RBR will get an IP address from the modems LAN side and can be anything. Best to set a IP address reservation on the modem for the RBR.
You can configure option #2 or #3 on the RBR to work with the ISP Modem the modem can't be fully bridged.
Any configurations needed on the RBR needs a wired PC and a web broswer to access the RBRs web page at 192.168.1.1 during setup.

Re: RBK50 pulsing white with new IP address
I was able to finally reset the orbi but unfortunately it still reads no internet connection. Also the orbi reset to the ssid name "orbi34" which isnt a name I made and it doesnt follow the original "orbi00" name the app prompts me to connect to. I think I will have to call my ISP or replace my mesh system, kind of crazy Ive had to repalce this product every year since buying it and now netgear wants me to buy a warranty when I simply need a RMA

Re: RBK50 pulsing white with new IP address
Try the modem in router mode and set up the RBR in AP mode. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
Be sure your using good quality LAN cables. CAT6 is recommended.

Re: RBK50 pulsing white with new IP address
Yeah thats the problem I cant login to the orbi. I just called ATT and they said they still have a outage and said it may be affecting my orbi which doesnt make sense to me since my pace is have been distrubiting internt just fine. They said the outage may last another 24-48 hours.

Re: RBK50 pulsing white with new IP address
IT will effect the Orbi as Orbi reads data from the ISP modem.
IF you disconnect the Orbi from the modem, wire connect 1 wired PC to the back of the RBR, press the reset button for 15 seconds then release, leaving the RBR disconnected, you should be able to log int othe RBRs web page at 192.168.1.1 using any browser...Can you get to this stage?

Re: RBK50 pulsing white with new IP address
So the setup wizard doen't appear in the web broswer if your wire connected PC at all?
Is your PC getting an IP address from the RBR after the reset? Check the networking settings on the PC, should be seeing a 192.168.1.something address on the network adapter.
