RBK53 v1 with firmware 2.7.2.102?
Hi there,
Does anyone know if the latest RBK53 firmware version 2.7.2.102 works with the RBK53 version 1 system (USB connector on back)? Netgear Orbi app only suggests 2.6.1.40 as available update.
Thx much in advance.

Thanks, CrimpOn - good to know. Did you expirience any kind of issues when switching to this firmware version? I'm trying to update my firmware (currently still on 2.5.1.16) due to issues with not showing all connected devices

and random disconnects of one of the two satellites.
Thanks much in advance.

No issues so far, but it is "early days". I came directly from 2.5.1.16 (it's long and embarrasing story). So far, nothing stands out.

Can be manually downloaded and manually installed which is preferred:
Update the RBS first before the RBR.

Well, I realized today that 2.7.2.102 has managed to "not show" two devices (1) a wired printer, and (2) a WiFi Echo Dot. The Orbi log clearly shows both devices receiving IP assignments via DHCP as they should. And, both devices function normally. No clue why 2.7.2.102 would think they are "Allowed devices that are not currently connected to the network." The Orbi "app" also does not show these devices as connected.
Now I share your delimma. Orbi firmware is not showing all devices. Do I (a) go back to 2.5.1.16 or (b) remain on 2.7.2.102 and try to remember that Attached Devices is incorrect, of (c) split the difference and try 2.5.2.4?

Re: RBK53 v1 with firmware 2.7.2.102?
Thanks for the update ... well, not showing only two devices is already pretty good, lol ... out of the approx. 40 connected things in our home, our Orbi (2.5.1.16) decided to only show about 12 of them as connected. Everything else is listed under "currently not connected to the network" although the devices are all working. I really can't believe that as a networking company they haven't manage to fix such a simple problem like this? This system is in the market now since 2019 I believe. Really sucks! Was hoping that the latest firmware update fixes these glitches, but looks like it doesn't. There is no point in buying a 2 satellite system when one of them just always disconnects itself after a couple of days, then needs to be re-synced.
Starting to consider to just dump this piece of crap and buy something else that actually works. I really do not have time to baby-sit a WiFi system that should be set and forget.

Sounds like you might have a faulty system if your RBS are disconnecting randomly.

Swap the RBS around to see if the problem follows. If it does, one if your RBS maybe faulty...

Thanks much. Yeah, sounds like that system must have some sort of fault ... great that it is now also out of warranty 😞
Sorry, but am quite frustrated at the moment ...

Re: RBK53 v1 with firmware 2.7.2.102?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.
What channels are you using?
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Have you tried to do a factory reset after the FW update? I had some devices not showing up either. Then after the factory reset...and a few reboots of the router, all 57 devices are showing up now.

Re: RBK53 v1 with firmware 2.7.2.102?
Only after setting up the system for the first time, everything worked as it should for a short period of time, then things started to fall apart and never recovered. Besides the mentioned issues, the system also does not execute the entered IP address reservations, for example.

Re: RBK53 v1 with firmware 2.7.2.102?
Are the RBS directly wired to the back of the RBR or is there a LAN switch in between.
Try swapping RBS with each other to see if the problem follows.

2400sqf. Distance to satellite 1 is about 25 ft and about 30 ft to satellite 2 ( the one frequently disconnecting. Backhaul to both satellites is via ethernet (hard wired). Channel selection is on „auto”

Re: RBK53 v1 with firmware 2.7.2.102?
There is a Gig-E switch (24-port Cisco Catalyst 3560G) between the Orbi Router and Satellite 1, plus one additional Gig-E switch (5-port AirLink)) on top of the Cisco switch between router and Satellite 2 (the one that is disconnecting).

Should I try to set up the system with WiFi back-haul instead of hard-wired?

Re: RBK53 v1 with firmware 2.7.2.102?
I would test the RBS wirelessly, then connect the RBS to the RBR using a different switch or if you can directly to the RBR with out the switch in between. Your swich is managed thus can cause problems.
Known working switches with orbi:
NG GS-105/108v4, D-Link DGS-105/108 and HP ProCurve 1400/1800 series switches work for Orbi systems.
Also it's best to keep with one brand of switch throughout the network system as well.

Re: RBK53 v1 with firmware 2.7.2.102?
Ok, thx. Will try what you suggest coming weekend. Will try to use my old Netgear 24-port Gig-E unmanaged switch for the connection to both satellites instead of the Cisco Catalyst and see if that solves the problem.

Re: RBK53 v1 with firmware 2.7.2.102?
It should. I'm currently using NG GS 1x series switches for my Orbi system. No problems here.
Keep us posted.

Also, what do you recommend regarding firmware? Stay with the current 2.5.1.16, update to 2.6.1.40 as suggested by Orbi management app or manually update to the lastes 2.7.2.102?

Re: RBK53 v1 with firmware 2.7.2.102?
Keep v16, it was a solid version of FW. I found issues with v40. v102 seems pretty good and solid, though if you do, you will see this issue of an ARP storm happening after connecting the RBS via ethernet however it goes away given a couple of minutes:
