RBK53 won't connect to internet (worked for the last year)

I have an RBK53 wired to a vodafone router.

vodafone WIFI works fine

for the last year, the ORBI WIFIalso worked fine. yesterday it stopped connecting to the internet.

symtoms : no internet connection on Orbi WIFI, Orbi app on phone status is 'offline'. After a router reset, this appears as 'online' for about 5 seconds then goes to offline.

I have tried

- reset of vodafone and orbi routers, separately, and at the same time

- different cable between the two

- Orbi router firmware update

- Orbi router factory reset (give internet connect error during setup)

Hardware version : RBR50

Please help, dead in the water here.

Without changing anything, this situation resolved itself the next day and has been fine ever since.. I believe the ISP must have changed something...

Thanks @FURRYe38 for the suggestions..

Unfortunately nothing to learn here 😕

Re: RBK53 won't connect to internet (worked for the last year)

What Firmware version is currently loaded?

What is the model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? Built in router here? If so, Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Re: RBK53 won't connect to internet (worked for the last year)

Was wondering about the ISP. Glad something was fixed.

Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Enjoy.
