RBKR50 MTU Setting Query for Netflix
Hello
I just converted my ORBI set up from Access Point to Router and all is working well.
I have an RBK53 set up now using a Netgear DM200 EOS modem in bridge only mode.
Following setting up this weekend all is working well, but when I tried to watch Netflix via Sky Q or a Smart TV it would not correct, citing the error message NW-2-5. In this case it does not get past the netflix front page and the red circle. Interestingly, when I tried netflix from an IPAD or PC it worked fine!
Searching on the internet I did not find much help although this is a common issue. I eventually found a random post that suggested a change of MTU to 1464. My ORBI was set to 1492.
I did not hold up any hope but thought I would give it a try. Amazingly after making the change to 1464 all the TV's connected without an issue. Who would have thought!
Without really understanding what MTU is (I know it is the maximum packet size in bytes) or what the implications are I have two questions:
- Most websites suggest it should be 1492, so i dont like the fact that I have changed from the norm. Could there be any negative impact to making the change to 1464.
- I have not checked my DM-200 Modem in bridge mode, but is it possible that this would have an MTU setting as well.
Appreciate any thoughts on this.
Thanks

Try putting the SkyQ IP address in Orbis DMZ...
