What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

So the distance between the router and the satellite is about 15-20 feet, is that too short? they are not in a straight line of sight, rather separated by thick concrete walls.
I did not play around with the channels, i left it as auto i guess.
However, what seemed to have solved the problem is a manual firmware update - which i got from the tech support. The app and the website showed that I was on the latest firmware, however the support team provided a newer update file to download version 2.5.1.30.
So a factory reset on the router and the satellite, followed by manually updating the firmware and then I started using the router mode. So far so good, lets see how things play out in the coming days.
Yes, there are huge number of wifi neighbours, atleast 7 of them.
I was using a TP link range extender also earlier for a few devices, but now i turned that off just to see if thats causing any issues. Have not turned it back on, i get good coverage without that.

You can use a program like NetSpot to see what your neighbor's WIFI channel is set to. Then you can manuall6y change your 2.4 Ghz channel to a less cluttered channel.
