RBR20, speeds like a repeater?

Brand new RBR20 and satellite. Newest firmware. Just installed. Have xfinity, get around 300 down. The computer is in the same room that the xfinity modem is in, while attached to xfinity device via wifi, I get about 230ish down. When I change the wifi to attach to the RBR20, (not the satellite device) which is right next to the xfinity modem, right next to the computerI am getting at most about 90ish. I have no other devices attached. This seems too low.

I have not put the xfinity in bridge mode, so I have xfinity broadcasting it's wifi on separate SSID than orbi.

I know wifi repeaters can give you at most 50% of the total wifi, they need up and down, but I thought the mesh, since it is attached via enet would broadcast at same speeds as xfinity modem.

Re: RBR20, speeds like a repeater?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. Also having other wifi signals in close proximity to the RBR is not recommended as well. Can cause problems.

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
