RBR40 2.6.1.38 firmware manual upload | 400 Bad Request Error

My Orbi RBR40 is already on 2.6.1.36 but I see 2.6.1.38 is available on the Netgear support pages, even though not offered in the automatic update page in the router.

If I try to perform a manual update of the RBS-V2.6.1.38.img I get the message "400 Bad Request" a few seconds after the upload starts.

I tried different browsers on both a Mac and PC but always the same message. Rebooting the Orbi made no difference.

Found the error. I was trying to load the RBS40 firmware not the RBK40 firmware. In fact i already have the latest RBK40 firmware!

Try Firefox broswer?

You might factory reset the RBS and RBR and then try to upload the FW files. RBS need to be updated first before the RBR.

My Setup (Cable 1Gbps/50Mbps)>CAX80 v2.1.2.1(LAG Disabled)>RBK853 v4.6.3.16
Additional NG HW: C7800/CM1100/CM1200CM2000, Orbi CBK40, CBR750, RBK50(v22), SXR30(v110), R7000(v34), R7800(v84), R7960P(v82), EX7500/EX7700, XR450(v120) and WNHDE111

Re: RBR40 2.6.1.38 firmware manual upload | 400 Bad Request Error

Using Firefox has the same response as using all the other browsers I tried. The RBW30 is already on the current released firmware and the RBK40 had the version 2.6.1.36 firmware installed manually without this error.

I am loathed to reset unless a simpler solution can be found. Maybe this is a bug of V2.6.1.36?

A bug in a Netgear firmware, it can't be.

Be sure you are using the right RBR FW file.

Try a reset.
