RBR40

I have an RBR40.  I recently upgraded my ISP to a gigabit service.  When I connect my cable modem directly to a computer I can get download speeds of 900 Mb per second.  However, as soon as I connect the Orbi router my speeds drop to around 290.  I can't seem to get a straight answer out of tech support as to whether this router supports higher speeds are not.  I don't mind having to upgrade to a different model but I'm still struggling to get a straight answer out of tech support as to what speed my current router supports.

Since I only have a 1 GB service (and my switch only supports speeds up to 1 GB) and I already have a cable modem it appears this model would be the best to upgrade to.   Would you agree?  I also have two satellites with my current configuration.

Re: RBR40

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Do you have Armor, Access Control, Circle or Traffic Meter enabled on the RBR?

Re: RBR40

Press the back reset button for 15 seconds then release. Set up from scratch. Power off the modem for 30 seconds then back ON. Be sure to not enable Armor, Circle, Traffic Meter or Access controls. Soon after the RBR is set up, run a quick speed test with Ooklas installable speed test app on a ethernet connected PC.

What does the app report for it's results?

Re: RBR40

While I appreciate the reply first I'm trying to determine if the RBR40 supports gigabit speeds.  According to tech support for Netgear it does not.  However, they have been wrong before .  Before I started trying to reconfigure my network can you point to some Netgear documentation that my router supports gigabit speeds.  I have been unable to find this,  this is the only information I've been able to find

https://www.netgear.com/images/datasheet/orbi/RBK40.pdf

And I don't see anywhere on that sheet that it says it supports gigabit speed.

Re: RBR40

What you seek is WAN to LAN and Hardware NAT Accelleration support which some router mfrs don't post in data sheets. If the router doesn't have any Hardare NAT Acelleration features, then in most cases, you'll not see anything near 900Mpbs on the ethernet connection.

Wireless with or with out HW NAT Accelleration tops out at 400-500Mpbs depending upon device support and wifi connection rates supported on wifi routers. https://kb.netgear.com/19668/Link-Rate-and-Transfer-Speed
