RBR50 / RBS50 - No Ethernet backhaul with new firmware

I have a set-up with a router and two satellites with ethernet backhaul.

After a satellite auto-updated to 2.1.4.10 my internet died.

Then I had to do a manual update on Router and other satellite. (Because Orbi doesn’t detect latest version?!?!?)

However, now my Ethernet backhaul doesn’t function anymore. Every time I add ethernet, all network activity dies. No Ip or anything. Just as before Orbi support Ethernet backhaul.

My house is concrete - I have extremely bad reception on the wifi backhaul. Deply disapointing. I have spend hours on this – Please advise

Same issue here. I had to make sure Daisy chain was turned on, or I get nothing. Hopefully yours may have been turned off.

Thanks for the help. I’ll try - even tough they are not Daisy chained (star)

Best,

Yes. Same here. I'm currently only using one wired satellite because my house is only 1700 square feet, but I still had to have that in or it did nothing.

Hi Again!

Daisy chain was on - Disabling it did not do the trick. Everything was fine with the last firmware. This is kind of a dealbreaker for me...

I can't get in touch with Netgear support - Does anybody know of a way??

Best, J

That's really weird and it would be a deal breaker for me too. Only thing I could think is factory reset without the cord connected. Let everything connect and satellites sync and then reconnect cords like everyone else tries. But I'm assuming you may have already done that.

Good idea. I haven't tried it because I have spend a lot of time configuring VPN, NAT access etc.

Guess I have to try and spend a couple of hours again this evening. So much for "Seemless and User friendly set-up with an app" FFS... 😉

Any network switches in the mix? If so, Mfr and model#?

What is the mfr and model# of the ISP modem the Orbi is connected too?

What other devices do you have connected to the Orbi router?

Hi Again.

Reset didn't work :S

My ISP modem is Optic from Alcatel Lucent. It's hard fixed by IPS to wall - so I can't check model.

I also have a simple Sempre unmanaged low power 1G/100/10 8-port switch.

Please advise.

Best, Jeppe

Try 2.1.4.16 released just last night with a factory reset. I had to make sure Daisy chain was active.

Re: RBR50 / RBS50 - No Ethernet backhaul with new firmware

Excellent. However - The RBR50 link contains the RBS file. And now I'm running with two different firmwares again... 😮

That's odd. The links I followed gave me separate files for rbs and rbr

Hi Chris/All and especially Netgear, if you are listening.

The new 2.xx.16 worked fine for one satelite on Ethernet backhaul - but as soon I attach nr. 2 to ethernet - everything dies, internet and intranet.

Arghhhh. 🙂

Is Daisy chain enabled? Disable it if it is.

The links work correctly for me on OSX with Safari and on Windows 10 with Edge.

Another user reported some problem with Safari and trying to download both firmware files at the same time.

Try it again, and only download the RBR file.

Re: RBR50 / RBS50 - No Ethernet backhaul with new firmware

After I upgraded I had to turn Daisy chain on, even though I'm only using one wired satellite, or the entire system dies

Is there a network switch in between the satellite and router? if so, whats the mfr and model# of this switch?
