RBR50 - satellites show as disconnected, but devices are connected to them?

As shown in the screenshot below, the admin interface is showing that two of my satellites are disconnected.  However, right below that, it shows that two of my devices are connected to those "disconnected" satellites.  How are the devices connected to disconnected satellites?

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? 

What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

I would updated to v40 or downgrade back to v16
