Yes, I think that is exactly the problem. With no electrical outlet close to the satellite location, it is a choice of (a) install a code compliant electrical outlet on the outside, or (b) run a low voltage cable through the wall from an indoor electrical outlet and stick some silicon calk in the hole.

I wouldn't say this is a design flaw rather an assumption that there should be a longer cable with the RBSY. I think the idea was that buyers of the RBSY unit should have an accessible power outlet already near or somewhat near where the RBSY would be placed outside. Again, One can run a extension cable and use an extension cable thats outdoor rated to say a outside wall plug if one is installed there. Something you as a buy will have to besure that a out door rated wall plug is available. Many house configurations that NG can't fully support so it's up to the buyer to ensure there is something available if they want to use the RBSY. Also lower DC power singals don't travel as well over long cable lines as 110v or 220v.
