RBW30 - Firmware 2.3.0.4
I am trying to download version 2.3..0.4 firmware for the RBW30 but it does not download completely. I get a .chk file in the zip from each download location I can find, which means the zip is not co...

Try a different browser? IE11 or FF or Opera?
You can try to rename the file extension to from .chk to .img and see if this works.

Thank you, Tried it and the result is the same. See last post.
In plain English it sucks in trying to update, should not be that difficult. Maybe they need to learn something from Apple. :)

Your picture shows that you are trying to do an automated update from the FTP server. It seems that Netgear has yet to put the newest firmware on that. This explains why you see "No new firmware version available".
If you look at the screen you posted, you will see that there is a "Manual Update" option. That is the way to go.
Retrieve the firmware file for your RBR40, unpack it to get whichever file it offers (chk or img). Put the file where you can find it.
Then click the Browse button above. Find your firmware. Click Upload.
By the way messing around with different browsers isn't likely to change anything.

Thank you so much! Had no idea that was the problem, before did download a .chg file but could not open it on my iMac. Hopefully, it will be updated online as well as in the app. Funny, Netgear sends out an email that an update is available and then your unable to do it, least as far as am concerned.
Again, thank you so much and I'll try checking again in the app and online later.

chk files are there for you to open.
You download a zip file and extract the chk file. I gather that iMacs have an unzip feature built in.
You simply have to upload that in the way I explained above.

Default is a unzipper utility for mac thats built in. OSX can use Stuffit Expander as well.
Mac should be able to unpack the .zip file then using any browser, select the .chk file in the RBWs firmware update page, manually select and navigate to the .chk file and select it for upload. Do not attemp to open the .chk file with anything else. That is the actual FW code file.

Hi,
redownloaded the update file and when I try to upload it per your instructions, says it's in a .img file, but it shows as a .chg file.
About to give up here, taking too much time to do something so easy. lol. The app is still showing the old firmware as well.
Again, thank you for your very clear instructions.

And what browser is this your using?
Go ahead and rename the .CHK to .img and try again. Close out of the web browser first, then re-name, then open the browser and log in.
