Re: Satellite Keeps losing connection
I seem to have this issue too, I think? System is up but in the phone app the Satellite doesnt show, but it did the first day? I am running current firmware version. purchase 6-23-17 at Best Buy.
firmware ~ RBR50 / RBS50 Firmware Version 1.11.0.20
ISP Comcast - HD Package 150mbps
2,200 sq ft ranch
Satellite and router about 45 ft apart, one wall. I need a way to test and verify constant connectivity.

Re: Satellite Keeps losing connection
I've been having the same problem: satellite disconnecting from the router. Two walls in between. I have concluded this doesn't work for me.

Re: Satellite Keeps losing connection
My Orbi works great over 32h+ so far.
Seems newer firmware will help.

Re: Satellite Keeps losing connection
I have had to move my satellite twice because it keeps disconnecting the backhaul, I guess. If this current spot fails, I'll return the Orbi kit, You must admit, though, that 32 hours isn't long.

Re: Satellite Keeps losing connection
From what I read.... the back haul is initiated by the router... so i moved the router to the center of the house.... and the sat to the further point. But only way I could do this is the 2 network jacks build into my house.
But, you are correct, if it doesnt suit my needs I will send it back also.

Re: Satellite Keeps losing connection
Yes.... the web app shows the 2 orbis (router and Sat)
Android app show the two items as one. I wish the status light could stay on or blink to indicate staus change.
Otherwise there is no way to tell if devices are connecting to the Sat.

Re: Satellite Keeps losing connection
Yes... it does show the SAT.. but I have a WD NAS wired to the SAT, and the NAS sends me emails when internet connectivity is lost. It happens sometimes twice a day. But the Orbi displays BLUE ring?
Without a Drive attached I may have never noticed. Would like to see a method to test back haul signal strength. I am 90% happy with the pair. I teach networking at a local college. I am writing leatures for MESH Technology. I am documenting issues for student projects and review. Hoping new updates will address drop issues.
Please let me know if additional details are needed. I have been in the networking field for 10+ years and teaching for 5 years. We spend about 16 weeks working with consumer and professional base networking hardware.

Re: Satellite Keeps losing connection
Firmware Update | ||||||||||||||||||||
Check if a new firmware version is available on the Internet. | ||||||||||||||||||||

Hi Darren,
Not sure from when but my Orbi system also seems to lose connection periodicly with its satelites. I am using an ethernet cable attached to the satelite for internet and it will drop for several seconds at a time every hour or so. The two satellites will also glow purple every now and then periodicly (indicating connection issue?) My satellites are visible on to the main router but seem to be connected on the 2.4 ghz band... is this the correct band or should it be the second 5ghz band for the dedicated backhaul? As you can see the firmware is up to date, but there also seems to be an error message there for the two satellites. I would really like some help with this as I have also had issues with yourt product not being compatible with my Bose sound system (even on an ethernet connection) and also had a few issues with my Google Chromecast. Both satellites are fairly close to the router (max 6 or 7 meters) and I did not have this issue before so believe that this is not a factor. I am a bit of a novice with these things so any help wqould be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Grant

Hello MortalWomabat
Have you tried to adjust your wireless channels and in the advanced wireless settings enable beamforming and mumimo?
