Slow wifi speeds Orbi RBR50

Hi Guys!

My first post, so not sure if I am addressing this correctly or not! But Ive started to experience slow wifi speeds over the last few weeks.

I have Virgin Media 350mbps using SuperHub 3 as Modem mode. However on the Orbi RBR50 Im getting speeds of upto 70mb. (Being right next to the Router, using Macbook pro2018)

Intially I thought the issue was with VM, so connected SuperHub3 Router mode and speeds went upto 280mb. (Same device and same distance)

I keep hearing about Advance Wireless Settings, but I was hoping if anyone could help here? Ive had the RBR50 since 2017 and never had issues before. Do I need to downgrade firmware? And if so (how?)

Many thanks!!!!

Re: Slow wifi speeds Orbi RBR50

if you'll do a search, you'll see that many have had problems Firmware v2.5.1.8

your best bet is to revert back to your previous version and STOP performing manual downloads

Re: Slow wifi speeds Orbi RBR50

Is your modem bridged? If your modem has a built in router, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

Above suggestions working:

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? Try this before downgrading.

Re: Slow wifi speeds Orbi RBR50

How do you revert back to the previous Firmware to see if it corrects the issue

Re: Slow wifi speeds Orbi RBR50

Just download the prior version of FW files and manually apply them.

You should try a factory reset and setup from scratch before downgrading. This has helped others seeing problems.

Can try voxels FW aswell:

Re: Slow wifi speeds Orbi RBR50

Where are you seeing this 96Mbps speed at?

Wired or wireless?

Are you connecting with the RBR or RBS?
