Stability AP vs Router mode on .18 release

Does anyone have experience with moving the Orbi to AP mode

on the .18 release ?

Wondering if that is a temporary way to get some atability.

Just need a spare box for Router/NAT/DHCP.

any recommendations for a Router suitable for a high speed 200 Mbs plus cable modem are appreciated ?

Re: Stability AP vs Router mode on .18 release

I updated my Orbi to .18 yesterday. I run it on AP mode and before the update it would reset every few hours. Since the .18 update it has not reset once (just over 24h). I will keep an eye on it, but it seems a lot more stable. Also my Samsung galaxy s8 used to get authentication errors daily. I haven't had one of those either. I know it's not been running long, but it is a big improvement over all the other versions I have tried.

Cannot comment on the modem you could use but I have been using the Orbi RBK30 units in AP mode for many months and a number of firmware versions and it’s always been stable and great connection with great throughput speeds.

Have been on .18 for a few days and no drops in connection.

I have RBK50 kit with 1000fiber and pppoe.

I have 950-960mbps on LAN

almost 600mbps on wireless with old macbook

same speed 500-600mbps on wireless from satellite RBS50 connected to RBR50 over wireless.

So, it support pppoe >900mbps.

Re: Stability AP vs Router mode on .18 release

We had a lot of issues using Orbi in Router mode with several recent firmware releases. The router continually dropped the Internet connection ( to AT&T UVerse DSL modem ).

After switching to AP mode, all of our Internet connectivity issues have vanished.

Went to AP mode to support Bitdefender Box 2. Now that I configured the Box 2 correctly, the AP mode on router works well. No drops on any idevices or my Directv box.
