Unable to Manually update firmware of RBR50 to 2.5.1.16

Dear Community,

I have recently got free ORBI from my service provider but I am unable to update it to latest Firmware which is - RBR50-V2.5.1.16.zip. On NG website its mentioned to upgrade to intermediate - v2.2.1.212 . I am getting error that Firmware is not correct when i upload the img of v2.2.1.212 . Please help .

Model - RBR50

Current Firmware - V2.1.4.16_1.1.31

Required firmware -  RBR50-V2.5.1.16

I am trying manual upgrade by Web .

I am trying the path : -  V2.1.4.16_1.1.31 -----> v2.2.1.212 -------> V2.5.1.16

I am new to the community kindly guide me if i am missing anything here or you need more information . Attached error

Perhaps you could share which provider this is?  The reason I ask is there have been two or three posts on this forum from Orbi users who got their Orbi from Verizon and were unable to update the firmware.  It seems the Orbi firmware has been "locked" and only Verizon can update it (and they never do).  Here's one such post:

Not saying this is your situation, which is why I'm interested to know who provided the Orbi.

Or try 2.2.1.210 in between for the RBR. 

RBS should direclty update to v16 with out any intermediate versions.

Is there any way to unlock the ISP provided Orbi device.

Oh it's a ISP version of Orbi.

Tried TFTP (orange color is not glowing as the device is not bricked) also but no luck,

Did you try Windows version of TFTP or NGs downloadable version? I've seen posts were using the other app worked vs the other app. Something to try. 

I presume the ISP FW has the RBR locked down and can't be loaded with NG stock FW.

Try this method, this differs abit from the other link I included:

Need to press the reset button for 30 seconds then release, then it send to PUT the command and upload the FW. 

I had a problem on a Windows 10 PC where this didn't work to use TFTP, so I switched to a WIndows 7 PC and the TFTP worked. However I don't have a ISP Orbi. Mines NG stock.
