Using Nighthawk C7800 Modem/Touter with Orbi Mesh WiFi
I have Xfinity wifi at 400 mps and stream 100% TV. I have multiple devices connected between phones, smartwatch, laptops, wireless surveillance cameras, wireless garage door opener etc. Anywhere from 12-15 devices. I recently had a CM1000 and the Orbi Mesh RB40 connected and kept getting knocked off. Xfinity came out and said cable signal was fine. Would not look at modem since it was my own. I went out and purchased the Netgear nighthawk C7800 and still trying to use my Orbi Mesh. I'm still having issues and I feel like I need to set up the system differently. I see both the Orbi WiFi and the C7800 Wifi and they may be interferring with each other.
How do I set this up properly to maximize my signal strength? I want to stop having issues with the internet going out every 5-20 minutes.
Thank You,
Blake A Hunter

Modem Combo Units:
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop- Blakeah1965Initiate
Thank You for the info. It seems more complicated than what I know how to do. I will look at the youtube videos you have listed to see if I can figure this out on my own.

I would recommend trying option #3 for ease of installation.
Good Luck. :smileywink:
