Using my rbr50 with Synology NAS

I am wanting to make my Synology NAS accessible over the internet and one of the requirements is that the router supports UPnP.

I have searched my Netgear Genie and cannot find any reference to UPnP.

I also did not find the Orbi router as one of the routers on the Synology support list

I would appreciate any guidance on this.

Thanks

Yes, uPnP is supported on the Orbi systems. You can disable or enable it.

Orbi supports UPnP.. It can be set up under >> ADVANCED >> Advanced Setup >> UPnP >> as follows:

Re: Using my rbr50 with Synology NAS

You do not need UPNP to access your Synology NAS from the Internet.  You just need to forward the appropriate ports that are used by the services on your NAS that you wish to access.  The DiskStation web interface (DSM) uses port 5001 for https access.  The other ports are listed here:

UPnP is the “automatic” or “plug & play” way of doing port forwarding. So if both the device and the router support UPnP so theoretically there is no need to do any port forwarding.
