WIFI speed issue with ORBI RBR50
Using the ORBI app on my phone and doing the speed test both upload and download are in the 900's.
However my imac as well as my macbook pro when connected to my WIFI mesh which is connected to an ORBI extender have uploads via speedtest OOKLA of 180 and the MB doesnt even reach 100 and download 300 and 200 respectively.
Why so much slower and how can I improve this?
I would greatly appreciate some help.
Thank you.
E

Re: WIFI speed issue with ORBI RBR50
You'll not see anything near 900Mpbs on 5Ghz AC with this system. Most top out at around 300-500Mpbs.
Wired connected devices should see near 900Mpbs.

Re: WIFI speed issue with ORBI RBR50
I hope that this helps - I found a website that explains "what to expect" from various devices when connected to a gigabit connection.
Go to https://support.google.com/fiber/answer/6250056#zippy=%2Cmobile-devices-wi-fi
Expand the three (3) sections to see what the "real world" speeds are for the following devices:
1) Mobile devices (Wi-Fi)
2) Computers (Wi-Fi)
3) Computers (Ethernet or USB adapter to Ethernet)
I understand that the website is for Google Fiber, but the information it provides is useful regardless of ISP.
Hope that this helps set expectations.
