WNDR4300 Connection is not private, certificate authority invalid

We randomly get the error message "Connection not private" when trying to use the internet through the Orbi network. I can switch to my 2.4ghz access point that is wirelessly connected to the Orbi system and connect to the internet without issue. I can also connect wirelessly to my modem and access the internet fine.

We have an RBR40 with 2 satellites connected. We are on firmware version V2.3.1.58. My laptop is Windows 10 and is up-to-date.

The problem also occurs on some of our Android devices -- all of which are up-to-date.

Sometimes, rebooting the Orbi system fixes the problem for some -- but not usually all -- of the devices.

Is there a solution to this?

Re: WNDR4300 Connection is not private, certificate authority invalid

Is this in regards to a WNDR3400 or the Orbi system?

What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

This is in regards to the Orbi system; it only happens when trying to connect to the internet while logged into Orbi. It occurs in all browsers. It occurs on all operating system: Windows, Android, and FireOS.

Re: WNDR4300 Connection is not private, certificate authority invalid

Your modem already has a router built in:https://www.netgear.com/service-providers/products/telco/gateways/d2200d.aspx

This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Re: WNDR4300 Connection is not private, certificate authority invalid

Thank you for your help. I'll try this when it acts up again.

It's starting working again now without any changes. This equipment is very, very unreliable.

Re: WNDR4300 Connection is not private, certificate authority invalid

It's not Orbi, it's the interaction of your modem/router with the Orbi. Having two routers on the same line is mostly the instability. Please configure the modem for bridge mode or try one of the other suggestions. This will fix this issue.
