I used port 465 for smtp.gmail.com, not port 587.
I think one thing that tripped me up was trying to send email from an account to the same account.
You have different account, correct?
Yes. Sending from gmail to hotmail.
Also fails on port 465
I am just puzzled. I have two Orbi systems emailing log files to me. I (just personally) do not like the way Netgear presented the email form:
email account to go TO
smtp address of the sending account
smtp port of the sending account
login of the sending account
password of the sending account
Most of my other applications put the smtp address and smtp port after the sending email password and have the recipient after the sender.
My other apps often allow sending to more than one recipient.
Thanks for your help. Unfortunately it still doesn't work.
