Difference Between GS305e & GS105EV2 in 2021

Netgear GS105Ev2 vs GS305E per owner’s manual

GS305E New model added to manual Feb 2019 (release date 04/18/2019?)

GS305E Name: Smart Managed Plus SOHO Switch

GS105Ev2 Name: Smart Managed Plus Switch (Released 2020?)

GS305E Language option is a download. Other models (GS105Ev2) languages included.

GS105Ev2 Power Saving Options available (detects cable length and adjusts power)

GS305E is not mentioned as adjusting power based on cable length.

GS105E is End of Life.  GS105E is a DHCP client.  GS305 is not.

From elsewhere on the netgear site.

Smart Managed Plus switches make an ideal upgrade from Unmanaged switches, with easy-to-use web browser-based management GUI, and essential Layer 2 switching features including VLAN, QoS, Multicast and Link Aggregation.

Smart Managed Plus SOHO (small offices and home offices) ???  No description found specific to Netgear switches

Smart Managed Pro switches provide even more features, with Access Control Lists, Spanning Tree and SNMP that you won't find on Plus versions. Often with IPv4/IPv6 Layer 3 Static Routing, the Pro versions bring more enterprise-class networking to budget-aware SMBs.

Cost:  GS305E price check on single site showed it was $7 lower then GS105Ev2.  GS305E also seemed to have lower availability at the time this was written.  Maybe near End of Life?

Quote from one site:
"GS305 has larger buffer memory/frame sizes than GS105 and better power performance."

Model: GS105Ev2|ProSafe Plus 5 ports switch

Multi-language support (English, German (Deutsch), Japanese (日本語).) was added to the GS105Ev2 with the first v1.6 firmware release back in the year 2018.

Multi-language support (English, German (Deutsch), Japanese (日本語).) was added to the GS308E with the first v1.0.0.3 in June or July 2019 firmware release, following the initial factory defailt v1.0.0.1 from March 2019.

When talking from newer/current firmware, the multi languae support is available right away..

The GS305E data sheet does clearly mention Energy Efficient Ethernet (IEEE 802.3az) compliant Yes. Note: There might be no controls to disable this feature on either model.

GS305 does not have DHCP because there is no IP stack as it's an unmanaged model. GS305E does have an IP stack, does support DHCP for address assignment (it's on the data sheet, too).

Early GS105Ev2 firmware release dates from 2013, first major update from November 2016.

Early GS308E firmware dates from March 2019. It's simply a new hardware model, probably initially intended for different sales channels.
