GS724Tv2 firmware update to version 2: Any way to do it while retaining configuration?
Our organisation has a number of Netgear GS724TPv2 devices on our network (10+), and have found them to be a very good product.
As part of a new security policy, we're looking to update all of our GS724TPv2 switches to the latest v2.0.7.4 firmware, however most of our GS724TPv2 devices are on the previous generation firmware (e.g. 1.1.0.24)
From the firmware release notes the upgrade route is as follows
1.x firmware -> 1.1.50.39 -> 2.0.0.16 (which leads to a total loss of config data) -> Latest 2.x firmware
Is there any way of automatically moving the configuration data (VLAN memberships, Management VLAN, IP settings etc) from the previous firmware releases to the v2 firmware? If not, its going to be a very arduous task to manually record the original config and replecate it on the new firmware and lead to considerable downtime.
I also assume its possible to pre-register all of our older netgear kit to receive the licence keys for local switch administration?

Hi rhydianwyn,
Welcome to our community! :)
We do apologize for the inconvenience. Sadly, you may need to reconfigure those switches after upgrading it to the latest firmware. Your switch is running on a different family firmware version unless they are on both 2.x firmware.
Regards,
John

Thanks for the confirmation regarding the loss of configuartion during firmware upgrades, this is a massive issue for us and is going to impact on our purchasing decisions going forward.
Can you confirm if Netgear will still offer critical vulnerabiliy fixes for the v1.x Firmware family?
