GS728TXS firmware mishap

We just purchased 3 x GS752TXS + 1 x GS728TXS (total of 4 switches) to replace some old equipment in our office.

The GS752TXS switches came with a series 5 firmware installed and the GS728TXS came with a series 6 firmware.

Unfortunately to get the switches to stack properly a decision was made to roll the GS728TXS series 6 firmware back to a series 5 firmware to match the other 3 switches.

We've now discovered the GS728TXS doesnt support the series 5 firmware and our shinny new GS728TXS doesnt look quite so shinny anymore and fails to boot properly.

The switch powers on and after approx 30 seconds the power LED changes from orange to green (this is normal and matches the other switches when booting). However after this the LEDs of all the RJ45 ports remain a dull orange colour and the switch never registers its stacking number, which it should even if its not stacked.

Anyone have any bright ideas on what to do? (other than firing the IT staff:))

Re: GS728TXS firmware mishap

We discovered using the Netgear Smart Control Center we were able to still connect to the Switch. Doing this also allowed us to reflash the switch. We have now flashed all switches with a series 6 firmware and both GS752TXS and GS728TXS are now happly stacked together.
