So i decided to upgrade my switch firmware today as it was still on the base 1.0.0.0 version
Following the instructions on the website i downloaded the newest firmware v 1.6.0.3 and ensured i did the upgrade using the prosafe tool v2.7.2
The initial bin file update seemed to go successfully, and the switch re-booted.. However when i try and login i constantly get asked to upgrade the firmware again.. I am unable to access the admin page.
I've noted from the support pages that i need to load the GSS116E_LOADER_V1.0.0.5.bin to ensure the firmware can load fully.. however however i try to load this it fails...
I also found this thread https://community.netgear.com/t5/Smart-Plus-Click-Switches/GSS116E-unable-to-upgrade-firmware/m-p/13...
that explains to browse to a sub page on the switch to specifically load the boot loader file.. however when i enter this in my browser it cannot find the path.
http://x.x.x.x/loader_upg.htm ( i include the ip addrss of the switch and i've changed my laptop ip to be fixed on the same subnet)
I've tried pressing the facotry reset button and powering off the switch, it is stull functioning, however i cannot access the admin page.. Please help

interestingly to get the screenshots i decided to get lug a lan cable directly into the switch.. previously i was trying to do the update via a wi-fi connection.
this time it all worked.. i was doing the original update via the prosafe app.. then when logging in (via chrome) it was just prompting to install the firmware again.. However with a direct ethernet cable, this time when i logged in through chrome.. i was asked to upload the boot loader and all worked!!
All sorted now.. just hope this may help some one else 🙂

Re: GSS116E Firmware upgrade Fail from 1.0.0 unable to upgrade firmware
Hello willwalton
Sorry to cause your inconvenience. Hope to get your support to provide more information.
1, which browser version are you using?
2, You said you constantly got asked to upgrade the firmware again. Do you see the attached picture constantly?
3, You said you try to load GSS116E_LOADER_V1.0.0.5.bin. It fails. Is there any error message or symptom when it fails? Could you provide a screenshot when it fails?

Re: GSS116E Firmware upgrade Fail from 1.0.0 unable to upgrade firmware
Hello willwalton,
Regarding the 1st question "which browser version are you using?", which browser do you use? IE, Chrome or Firefox? Which is its version number? Thanks
