AV 500 and PLP 1000 compatible or not compatible ?

Note : it is not possible to select the PLP1000 model in the box here above

Hello,

I have bought a pair of PLP1000-100FRS powerline adapters.

I aleary have a powerline nerwork with three AV500 and it works fine.

When plugging a PLP1000 on the powerline, the Pick A Plug indicator is red.

It is not possible to turn it to green, even after resetting all devices.

Are the AV 500 and the PLP1000 compatible ? If not, are the AV500 and the PLP1200 comptible ?

Thank you for your support.

Bernard.

I have exchanged the CPL1000 for CPL12000.

CPL1200 works.

CPL1000 is definitly not backward compatible.

Yes the PLP1200 is backwards compatible with any Homeplug AV unit.  Have you made sure the password ('Key') is the same for all units?  For example if you changed these for your AV500 units the PLP1200 unit may still have the default 'HomePlugAV' key.  Otherwise they will not talk to each other

Apologies I referenced the PLP1200.  The PLP1000 is compatible as well

Re: AV 500 and PLP 1000 compatible or not compatible ?

Hello,

As I said I have reset all devices to the factor default. All pluged in AV500 show a green "Pick A Plug" light. Adding a PLP1000 keep the AV500 green but the PLP100 show a red Pick A Plug light.

Do I need to update the AV500 ? I bought it more than 7 years ago.

When adding new plugs to an existing Powerline network, it is important to follow these instructions:

>>> Adding a powerline adapter to an existing powerline network <<<

It is usually easier to do all this with thee plugs near to each other. Then you can move the plugs to their intended location. They will remember their settings.

Remember, adding fast plugs to slow plugs will mean that the network operates at the speed of the slowest plugs on the network.

Hello,

Thank you for all information. I fell I did all what is recommended.

Would you look at the story "Plugging a new PLP1000 onto an AV500 existing network.pdf"  which explains, step by step, what I did.

Your attachment does not show any plug with a connection to your router.

Your are rigth. The router is connected to a third AV500, on the same room, on another power plug.

Maybe not for you. But @clithes is correct they all work to the AV standard and other people happily use them together.

Perhaps you just had a duff one.

I chip in only to warn people that this is a one-off report that they should treat with caution. There is no "definitely" about it.

Re: AV 500

Sorry, no instant answers, just a few comments.

First, "tried everything" lacks detail. We don't know which Powerline plugs you have or what they are connected to and what you have tried.

Secondly, you have joined in on an older discussion, so there's a chance that the official support team will be too busy following new stuff to find your message. It is usually better to start your own fresh discussion if you want their attention.

As the previous stuff is marked as SOLVED there is even less chance that Netgear's support team will see your message.

Oh, one more thing, NO NEED TO SHOUT.
