Firmware upgrade
Just did an upgrade to firmware 6.8.0.
Received this warning message “The host name contains illegal characters. This may cause undefined behavior when using some network services. Please change the host name using only valid characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, -).”
'Device_ThisModel' is an example of our name assignment protocol. Note that there is an "_" (underscore) character in the name. We have a number of these devices and they seem to work well. Renaming them will be a big PITA.
Is it necessary?
What will we loose if we do not rename them.

Re: Firmware upgrade
You have posted your query in the Powerline networking section.
If you don't want to wait for a Netgear moderator to move it, you might like to post it over in the ReadyNAS Network Storage - NETGEAR Communities.
