How Can I Upgrade PowerLine Firmware?
Hello--
I have had several of the older v1 of the Powerlines with no issues for years. I just bought the nano v2 and I'm having trouble with one that keeps losing its connection and I have to keep resetting it to factory default to get it to work again.
I want to upgrade the firmware to see if that fixes the issue, and I've downloaded the current firmware, but I can't find any directions for upgrading the firmware.
If there is a utility, I can't find one for my model.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Stephen

What is the exact model number of these plugs?
nano v2 is one of those generic labels.

Re: How Can I Upgrade PowerLine Firmware?
It's the Powerline XAVB5200v2, I believe. I'm not where I can check right now. Definitely the 500 series.

On the back. But you have to unplug it. Clever design!

Re: How Can I Upgrade PowerLine Firmware?
What said was that you "think" it is a XAVB5200v2.
As there appears to be no such thing as the XAVB5200v2 – I checked before I replied – I told you where to find the correct information.
It is a bit blurry but you can still see the bit by the Adapter label.
Or try this:
I asked for the model number because when you have the correct information you can throw it into this page:
and then find the manual, which should provide you with the information you need.
You will also find the powerline utility.
Perhaps this is what you have:

Re: How Can I Upgrade PowerLine Firmware?
XAVB5201 v2 That's what it says on the Amazon post where I bought it, and on the utility tool (sw).
Thanks!

Re: How Can I Upgrade PowerLine Firmware?
Netgear's Powerline Utility can be downloaded on the XAVB5201 support page:
This can be used to update certain powerline models. However, Netgear have issued standalone updates in the past to update their powerline adapters, which you just run by themselves.
Is it the XAVB5201 you are tring to update, or a different model?

Re: How Can I Upgrade PowerLine Firmware?
There does not seem to be new firmware for that.
XAVB5201v2 | Product | Support | NETGEAR
Can you switch plugs around to see if this is down to the plug, its location or something else?
You could even try different cables.

Re: How Can I Upgrade PowerLine Firmware?
Thanks, but I have done all the typical layer 1 troubleshooting. It is the unit itself. I would like to try to install the firmware regardless of whether there is a new version or not as it is the last effort I'm going to make before returning them.

If it doesn't exist, you are stuffed.

Re: How Can I Upgrade PowerLine Firmware?
Of course. As I mentioned, I just bought them. One has no issue from the 2-pack. One has the issue--so I'm just replacing the whole pack.
Would be nice to make a firmware update tool available to end-users. We're allowed to flash the BIOS of a PC--you think updating a Powerline unit's firmware would be allowed.
