NETGEAR Powerline Connection 'Open'

Hiii i m in need for help..,,,

I am unable to make the wifi connection secure, it is currently open and anyone is able to use it. I have tried going on mywifiext.net and the adapter is detected, I have tried changing the wireless settings using the powerline utility and it fails. I am completely lost at what to do now and need some help.

What hardware are we talking about here?

If this really is Powerline stuff, then your message is in the wrong section.
