If I already have the powerline 1200 and add the Powerline 2000. Does that make my existing Powerline 1200 into 2 additional adapters to use for different outlets?

As far as I know they should be compatible. Usually mixing "Brands" can be a PITA but these should be harmonious....

They are compatible but will reduce your speeds to the slowest devices speed.

halfway down the article it lists compatibility and problems with different matchings.
