Does anyone know how far this poweline is good for? I am trying to get internet out to my machine shop. It is about 500 foot of wire away from the main building.

Re: Powerline PLW1010 distance
Good question, but not easily answered.
Sadly, Netgear's FAQ doesn't offer much help.

500 feet is a stretch. The key factor is the mains circuit. From what I read here, a link that long is pushing it.
It might work if your mains run comes from a single fuse box with no separate switches and junction boxes for the machine shop. This seems to be unlikely.
I have tried it with a <50 foot run. It works, but the speed is poor. This may be because it has to jump a couple of junction boxes.
