Wifi keeps being weird and asking for a password

Hi,

My powerline seems to have developed an issue. It was (and has been) working fine for over a year, but in the last month it has started behaving weirdly. Basically, the bottom light goes off on the sending part of the unit. Then when you try and access it on the iPad/Amazon stick/phone, it comes up as a dead connection and wants you to enter the wifi password (which has already been set ages ago, and working fine).

If I pull it out and wait a few seconds, then plug it back in, it normally works again.

Any suggestions on what to try? I'm having to reset it a couple of times a day atm 😞

Cheers

Andy

That's the Pick A Plug LED that tells you that the thing is losing its Ethernet connection over the mains circuit. What does the one on the host end look like?

There is a manual for the PLW1000 somewhere at the end of this link:

Sadly, the Troubleshooting Tips, see page 13, don't add up to much.

Thanks for the reply. For some reason, I didn't get notified of a reply 😕

Mmm not sure. I will check next time it happens, and post here

Yeah 😞

Ok - it started to do it again. Here is how the broadcasting unit looks:

The 2nd light was red, then it went green, and then back to red after. The weird thing, is that ALL of the lights are green on the bit by the router! I'm really confused by this (it has worked flawlessly for at least a year, so I'm not sure what / if anything has changed)

Cheers

It is losing the Ethernet connection between the plugs.

There is a manual for the device somewhere at the end of this link:

This has a lot more detail. See page 22.

Re: Wifi keeps being weird and asking for a password

Thanks for the reply. I have now worked out how to upgrade the firmware on it (hadn't been done since I got it),so I'm hoping that could fix the issue. I will keep and eye on it, and if it hasn't happened within a week, we should be good 🙂 (and I will come back and update here to let others know as well)

Cheers
