Re: XAVN2001 problem
You might have not installed the Powerline Utility properly. Try to uninstall the utility first and go to the link below depending on the operating system of your computer.
For Windows:
http://support.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/19401
For Mac:
http://support.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/19453
Just save the file on your computer and run it. 🙂

Re: XAVN2001 problem
Thank you for your answer but i already read this i reinstalled from the support page download i reset both devices i try everything.Something i noticed now is that when i run the utility with the 2101 only it works. When i set security key, the default one, the device seems not to have Internet middle led is off. When there are no security keys devices work but utility stops with runtime error

Re: XAVN2001 problem
If the powerline LED (the middle light) is not on, meaning that it is not finding any compatible powerline adapter that uses the same security or encryption key. You might need to call Netgear tech support to further troubleshoot your concern. Their hotline number is 1-888-638-4327.

The 2 powerline adapters are actually compatible. What I mean was the XAV2101 might have a different encryption key with the XAVN2001.
You can refer to this manual below:
http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/XAVN2001_UM_28Jul11.pdf
Check out on Page 6.

try factory reset in both adpaters to bring them to the default powerline security key, the plug them again and check if the powerline led come to red.

Hi - I am new on this forum but in desperate need of help. I have XAV2001 and XAVN2001. I managed to install everything properly some months ago but now when I want to use the Powerline Utility to log in, it refuses to work. I have reinstalled both from CD and download from Netgear site on 3 different op systems but without success. The last error mssg I got was:
