I have the adapters setup and running. However, the unsecured network message pops up on the system tray icon.
I setup the security option as directed in the manual but it still gives me the message. I'm using Norton Internet Security
on a Windows XP SP3 platform with the Windows Firewall turned off.

I've given up on this and moved on. Talked with Comcast and got an updated modem which changed the speeds dramatically. Funny how they expect the end user to complain to get results. Lesson here not related to the Powerline is to be the squeaky wheel! Peace and health

Re: how to fix unsecured network message
What Netgear hardware are we talking about here?

Is that a Windows message or something from Norton? (It won't be from Netgear.)

Which security options? wifi? LAN?

Why did you do that?
Oh, and XP? If you are worried about security you are using the wrong operating system. Microsoft's withdrawal of support means that it is now an open target for Internet hacks.

Re: how to fix unsecured network message
I'm using the PL1200 Powerline adapter.
The message is a Windows one.
The security option is the one available on the adapter via the Security button.
Windows Firewall is turned off thru recommendation of Norton Internet Security.
Yes I know I need to move on from XP.
I have an existing secured wifi network running as well.
How do the two coexist? Do I still use the existing wifi or the new Powerline network?
Modem is Arris TC862.
Thanks
