ReadyNAS RN212: When uploding filWhen uploding file ReadyNAS RN212 it doesnt check for duplicated

ReadyNAS RN212  Runing SW 6.9.2 :

When uploding file (drag/drop) it doesnt check for duplicates and copies files again, duplicating files.

This happens each time you drag/drop a folder/file that was already uploaded previously.

Is there a setting or option to skip/overwrite? this is odd that default behavior is to keep duplicating files. Thanks!

Hi @nirajkmr

Welcome to the Community!

If you try to upload or drag files from Windows, the system will ask you what would your preferred action will be, to replace or create copy of the file. However, dragging and dropping files from the Web interface with the same files automatically creates a copy of it except for the folder which stays the same just the files being dropped are copied with a number increment. The same would be for ReadyCloud but it creates another share for the same files being synced.

This might be because of BTRFS CoW

You may want to upload from Windows if you want for duplicate files to be replaced instead of copied or added, currently there is no option to change that behavior on the NAS when dragging and dropping from the admin page. It would be good to post a feature request on the Ideas Exchange board.

Regards

How are you uploading the files?  Drag-and-drop?   Or some other way?

Also, what is the source device?  Windows PC, Mac, phone, ???

Yes, drag and drop on ReadyCloud web interface on Mac Pro (10.11.6 (15G20015)) using Chrome web browser Version 67.0.3396.99 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I don't see any option for the behavior anywhere as well as no prompt is made to ask what you want to do with the duplicate files, overwrite or create another copy.

Let me know if any other question, thanks!

Re: ReadyNAS RN212: When uploding filWhen uploding file ReadyNAS RN212 it doesnt check for duplic...

Like I responded to previous post, I am dragging and dropping on ReadyCloud web interface on Mac Pro (10.11.6 (15G20015)) using Chrome web browser Version 67.0.3396.99 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I  dont get a prompt during drag/drop, which may be expected behavior as you mentioned. I didn't understand when you mentioned uplod/drag files from Windows, is it Windows OS? or some other means of uploading?

If you try to upload or drag files from Windows, the system will ask you what would your preferred action will be, to replace or create copy of the file.

Is this a Mac issue? or on Mac also there is a way to upload where the question is prompted, overwrite or copy? thanks

Re: ReadyNAS RN212: When uploding filWhen uploding file ReadyNAS RN212 it doesnt check for duplic...

Hi @nirajkmr

From the Admin page there is no option to choose, once you drag the same file it will be copied and be saved with an increment, it will not ask you what to do with the file.

It is not possible to alter that behavior at the moment. It will be better to upload the files on Windows if you don't want any files to be duplicated.

You may also want to post on theIdeas exchange board about this feature.

Hope this helps!

Regards
