Re: 4.1.9 -- Will printing under OS X Lion be fixed?
I have upgraded to Lion and upgraded my NAS to version 4.1.9-T6. My printing does not work either.
I know some UNIX, so have tried to look in the NAS to get some error, and found only one comment in the file: /var/log/cups/error_log
E [23/Apr/2012:10:44:18 -0700] ReadClient() 2 IPP Read Error!
This was when I tried to print a test page. (The printer was located correctly under Bonjoure.)
I have also tried manually adding the printer in IPP from my Apple. However, never mind what I enter, I always get this error on the NAS:
E [23/Apr/2012:10:52:24 -0700] get_printer_attrs: resource name '/(whatever)' no good!
Can you please fix this printing issue, it seems from other postings that this has be broken for a very long time.
Also I have a slight complaint about version control. I have found several postings on this mailing list stating they pointed to the current firmware for my NAS, accept all these versions were different. Not all of them can be right. Would it be better to have a page showing the firmware versions available so that people could link to them in their postings, and also I could check there periodically for a version of firmware with the tag 'Lion Printing Fixed'!
Many thanks,

Re: 4.1.9 -- Will printing under OS X Lion be fixed?
Apple has released OS X Lion v10.7.4 today, one of the changelog items is:
Can you give that a try, see if it helps the issue?
Improve printing to an SMB print queue.

Are they kidding, they destroyed SMB in Lion.
Are they saying they have now fixed SMB?
I'm porting over to AFP to avoid the headaches only to find that write speed for AFP are pathetic. (4.1.9-T14)

Re: 4.1.9 -- Will printing under OS X Lion be fixed?
Lion just sucks... I hate that I just had to update my computer to the latest and on top of that sell my snow leopard computer...
Since going to Lion, I dont use my mac unless I HAVE to... And that is rare... There were so many things messed up in Lion. Out of the box I had trouble with restoring data from a backup, user permissions, etc. All that APPLE could not fix when I contacted them. Taking my computer to the apple store did not help either. It took a user on the forum to fix one of the issues after months of plaguing others... By that time I had given up and started it over from scratch and just dont do a thing with it...
Windows for me.
