RNP 6 CPU temp with 6.4.1
Had no issues with CPU temps before 6.4.1...no CPU temp will climb 25C degrees in 3 mins or so when scrubbing a volume. And yes, I know the system is no longer supported especially with configure below, but this was all working fine on 6.4.0
Model: ReadyNAS Pro 6 (RNDP6000-200)
Upgraded CPU: Intel Xeon X3230
Memory: 4 GB
HDD: 4x Hitachi 2TB
Upgraded System Fan: Noctua NF-P12 PWM - 120mm
Upgraded CPU Fan: Noctua NF-R8 PWM - 80mm
OS: 6.4.1

Re: RNP 6 CPU temp with 6.4.1
Hi walshlink,
Haven't heard of this problem. Let's wait to hear if other community members who uses the same legacy NAS with 6.4.1 Firmware have experienced the same.
Kind regards,
BrianL

Re: RNP 6 CPU temp with 6.4.1
Hi,
Here are a few similar issues related to PRO 6 fans:
Needless to say that on 6.3.5 the fans work great!

Re: RNP 6 CPU temp with 6.4.1
I have a Pro Pioneer on 6.4.1 with a Noctua 120mm fan on the back and a non-PWM Noctua 80mm fan on the CPU (with a 5v voltage regulator) with no problems at all.

Re: RNP 6 CPU temp with 6.4.1
If switching fans, pay attention to the RPM, static pressure and CFM figures, and make sure that there numbers are equal or greater than the stock fan. Lots of fans are designed for quieter operation and don't push the same amount of air. In a big PC case that isn't so much of an issue; in a smaller NAS case, it is very important.
In my experience I found the Noctuas didn't cool my Pro BE systems as well, even when using the better-specced NF-S12A 120mm fan; but YMMV.
