6.8.0-T54 bug: File Search Crashed - out of memory.
File search was enabled, and earlier this week was available.
This morning I see the following:
I've captured logs, the relevant lines are
Jul 05 16:08:17 NAS kernel: Out of memory: Kill process 15655 (tracker-miner-f) score 98 or sacrifice child
Jul 05 16:08:17 NAS kernel: Killed process 15655 (tracker-miner-f) total-vm:1415328kB, anon-rss:192612kB, file-rss:0kB
The file indexing service can't be enabled from system->services (and that should be possible).
I enabled it from the search screen (using the dialog above), and then got "search error" displayed next to the cancel button.
Of course there is also a grammar issue with the dialog box.
BTW - I've noticed that the indexing gives file and folder counts while it is in progress, but when it is completed it doesn't show that. It is useful information, and not available anywhere else. So I would like to see that shown all the time.

Re: 6.8.0-T54 bug: File Search Crashed - out of memory.
Also, the "cancel" button is grayed out when the search is in process.
So the control is worthless.
BTW, why not put the search control on the overview page? It's buried now.
It would also be useful on https://nas-ip-address/share (with the search limited to that share).
